The library was almost empty, the hushed atmosphere a balm to Evelyn's busy mind. She sank into her usual armchair by the window, the soft cushion molding perfectly to her frame. The aroma of old books and freshly brewed coffee filled the air, a familiar scent that immediately calmed her nerves. She pulled out her notes, ready to begin her research paper. The deadline was weeks away, giving her ample time.

A notification popped up on her laptop screen. An email from the financial aid office. She clicked on it, a small frown forming on her face. The subject line read, “Important: Scholarship Review.”
